CONDITIONS & INJURIES

Pain, Numbness & Weakness

Describe the changes you notice so a qualified provider can evaluate them.

Understanding your concern.

Pain, numbness, or weakness can arise from different problems and may involve more than one part of the body. A symptom description does not establish a diagnosis. Your provider needs to review when the changes began, where they occur, and whether they are progressing.

Make everyday life part of the conversation.

Bring a clear account of the areas affected and any changes in walking, grip, balance, or other daily activities. Mention previous injuries, medications, and care from other providers. Explain what feels different from your usual function.

Discuss the appropriate options.

The appropriate next step may be medical evaluation, rehabilitation, another service, or referral. Call the office to discuss the suitable appointment. Sudden or rapidly worsening symptoms may require urgent care rather than a routine visit.

Seek emergency medical care for sudden weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or severe symptoms after a serious injury. Do not wait for a routine appointment.
